Russian President Vladimir Putin on November 21 announced that Russia is ready to provide Sputnik V, the Covid-19 vaccine made by this country, to countries in need.
Russian President Vladimir Putin gave the information above during an online meeting between G20 member countries hosted by Saudi Arabia.
President Putin also confirmed that Russia is preparing to produce two more corona vaccines. He shared that the increase in the number of vaccines against the Covid-19 pandemic is "a common goal" of the G20 countries.
Speaking to the leaders of the G20, President Putin stressed that this group should ensure that the right to access to the Covid-19 vaccine is equal to every country in the world.
"Russia, like other countries, also takes unprecedented anti-crisis measures, with the key fundamental value being human life and health above all," he stressed.
According to the announcement of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) on 11/11, the results of testing on 16,000 volunteers showed that the Russian Sputnik-V vaccine is 92% effective in protecting people from Covid- 19.
RDIF said the test in Russia will continue for another six months. Data from the study will be published in the leading international medical journal, according to Reuters. Moscow is rushing to complete trials to bring the vaccine to market.
The results of the Russian Covid-19 vaccine trial are evidence that a pandemic can be prevented by means of vaccination.
Russia registered the Covid-19 vaccine in August and was the first country to register a vaccine against the epidemic. The large-scale tests conducted by Moscow started in September.
